THE CHALLENGE:
Design a safe high-wire platform to be installed in a tight space.
For the Xishuangbanna show, Dragone needed to create a new removable platform system overlooking the stage from which two artists could perform high-flying dives.
THE SOLUTION:
A turnkey Sim-optimization approach
- Determination of the structure’s critical loading scenarios (a total of 9 separate conditions were considered);
- Detailed design of the fastening mechanisms and deployment of the structure;
- Thorough resistance analysis of the concept and the surrounding structure;
- Proposal, validation, and implementation of changes to maximize safety during use;
- Effective communication with the manufacturer to ensure that the concept remain cost effective and deadlines respected;
- Drafting of detailed drawings for manufacturing;
- Validation and certification of the final structure.
